I am a firm believer that you hold the answers you are searching for. My expertise in psychotherapy allows me to shine a light on the parts of your life that have been ignored or forgotten. I will guide and support you in gaining clarity and self-awareness to facilitate the changes you are searching for. I, like yourself, am on my own journey. I too have felt alone, misunderstood, and stuck. I did not know how to make opportunities out of the challenges I faced, and this caused pain and confusion. I am continuously learning new ways to embrace and use the bumps and forks in the road to get the most out of life.
As your therapist, I am compassionate and relatable. My approach is holistic and integrative, as I employ a variety of techniques and therapies. I offer a non-judgmental space where you can feel heard, acknowledged and supported. We will work with your strengths to develop strategies to transform the obstacles you’ve encountered into opportunities for growth and change. Through this process, I will assist you by using practical and useful tools drawn from psychodynamic therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, relational therapy, mindfulness-based therapies, guided imagery, and narrative therapies.

Life can be difficult sometimes. It can be exhausting, challenging, unfair, and full of pain and loss. Sometimes we feel anxious, depressed, confused, stressed out and we don’t know how to handle it. Maybe you feel lost, at your wits-end, stuck and unsure how to carry on. Maybe you’re looking for a way forward, or skills and tools to help you manage. Maybe you’re hoping to uncover the strengths you already have, to make change in your life, or just someone to lend a non-judgmental ear.
As a psychotherapist, I am empathetic, caring and authentic. I use a non-judgemental, compassionate, collaborative, person-centered approach that puts you in the driver’s seat. I too have been in the client’s seat in a therapy room, and I know how vulnerable it can feel. I strive to provide a space where you feel safe and comfortable, as well as supported, heard and acknowledged. I also believe that psychotherapy is like physiotherapy, that is, it is the most beneficial when you practice what we discuss between sessions. We will work together to determine which tools and techniques fit best for you, and I typically use elements of cognitive behaviour therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectal behaviour therapy, narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy, and mindfulness techniques.
I completed my training and Master of Arts at the University of Western Ontario, and have experience working with adults (18+) with various presenting concerns. I am constantly amazed and humbled by the resilient individuals I have the privilege to work with, and the meaningful change they are able to implement in their lives. I am passionate about helping people to see their strengths and working with them to facilitate growth.

People often ask me how difficult it is to hear narratives of pain and suffering. I always tell them that I feel privileged that someone can trust me to share their distress. The faith they place in me to help them emerge out of their suffering is heartening. I have always believed that taking the step to reach out to a psychologist is a courageous one. To admit to a need for professional help is tough. This gives me a sense of great responsibility toward people who come to me.
Over the years, I have worked with adults and adolescents with various anxieties, stress, OCD, depression, anger management, self esteem and coping difficulties. People often come to me experiencing overwhelming stress, the pressures of never-ending expectations, a fear that no one understands, difficult relationships and so much more. I understand the emotional turmoil they feel when they have tried everything, but nothing has worked, or when they feel totally disconnected with others or even their own selves.
In the accepting and non-judgemental environment of therapy, we walk together through the difficult but achievable process of letting go of certain beliefs and behaviours in order to give place for something new to be built. We work towards facilitating changes and helping you to reach your goals. I will support you to acquire skills to face the challenges that life will continue to throw. In my therapeutic work, I use an integrative approach drawing from psychoanalytic, cognitive behavioural and humanistic therapies. I also use mindfulness-based therapy and solution focused therapy. I understand the cultural influences in our lives and am sensitive to it in my therapeutic approach.
I completed undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Delhi. Prior to arrival in Canada, I gained extensive clinical experience working at the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences (IHBAS) and at Max Healthcare in Delhi, India.
I am proficient in English and Hindi languages, and I have comprehension with limited expression in the Punjabi and Urdu Languages.

I qualified as a Clinical Psychologist in South Africa and was registered with South African Board of Psychology. I then moved to London, UK, where I worked as a psychologist with children who had hearing impairments. I trained in group analysis and continued group psychotherapy training when I moved to Toronto in the Mid-1990s. I have worked in research and published in the area of Multiple Sclerosis and psychological consequences of the disease. I have been on the faculty of the Etobicoke General Hospital Cardiac Rehabilitation Program for the past 10 years. In addition, I provide training in group process, facilitation and psychotherapy to mental health professionals and am the co-founder and co-director of the Toronto Institute for Group Studies. I have given numerous workshops and lectures at conferences and for local and national organizations. I am registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario in the practice of Clinical and Rehabilitation Psychology.
I work with adults of all ages from late teens onwards, on many issues such as depression, anxiety, phobias, relationship difficulties, lack of self-esteem, workplace problems. Life transitions such as parenting, divorce, loss of a loved one, retirement, empty-nest, new work situations are all areas that might need the support of psychotherapy. Sometimes finding meaning in life, ridding yourself of unhealthy family baggage, exploring your authentic self and discovering your inborn talents are vital tasks that can be accomplished in therapy.
I am qualified to work with people who are experiencing chronic disease and have had traumatic accidents, including motor vehicle and workplace injuries. There are many psychological symptoms that result from diseases, illnesses and accidents, which can be helped by psychotherapy. I also focus on work reentry and being able to achieve optimally, given certain physical limitations.
I have trained extensively in group psychotherapy, group process and facilitation. I provide workshops, training and coaching around areas of interpersonal development, and understanding group process in the workplace. Understanding the operating of group process, for example, in meetings and work related groups, often leads to advantageous and productive outcomes.
I am able to use a number of therapy skills in which I have trained over the years, such as, analytically informed depth therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, relational therapy, mindfulness meditation, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dream analysis, solution focused therapy and guided imagery. I carefully evaluate each person to determine which therapies fit best. This is often undertaken in a collaborative way so that you may be part of the decision-making process.

I completed my Master’s degree in Adult Clinical Psychology in 2006 at the University of Windsor. Since then, I have worked in private practice, university counselling centre, and community agency settings providing psychotherapy. I have extensive training in forensic risk assessments, immigration assessments, HIV counselling, addictions and substance abuse counselling, sexual offender counselling and rehabilitation.
I completed my doctoral degree in Clinical and Counselling Psychology, and an adjunct doctoral degree in Gender and Women’s Health at the University of Toronto. My research has focused on the sexual behaviour of young women in Africa. I completed my residency and forensic training with the Correctional Services of Canada and Forensic Behavioural Services in Kingston Ontario. I have completed externships at world-class sites in North America and Africa, and worked in psychiatric and forensic hospitals, correctional facilities, outpatient clinical settings and private practices where l received specialized training forensic risk assessments, cognitive assessments and diverse treatment modalities.
I have received several academic awards and prestigious credentials in recognition of my contributions towards research and community development. I have three published peer-reviewed papers in scholarly journals and one book chapter. I am currently completing clinical supervision to pursue autonomous practice as a psychologist.

I use cognitive behavioral and client-centered approaches to treat depression, anxiety, posttraumatic stress, chronic health problems, relationship issues, workplace stress, and other emotionally troubling issues. I believe that positive change is possible by directly facing your emotional struggles and day to day problems. I work to help clients bring about desired changes through goal setting, active interpersonal support, and skill building.
After completing studies in theology and related work, I pursued a career in psychology. I am a registered psychologist authorized for autonomous practice by The College of Psychologists of Ontario. I completed my Ph.D. at the University of Toronto and have been admitted to the Canadian Register of Health Service Psychologists (CRHSP). I am owner and clinical director at Advance Health. My areas of competency include clinical, counselling, and rehabilitation psychology with adolescents, adults, and couples. I provide assessment and treatment for psychological disability, trauma-related injury, and psychovocational functioning.
